Overview
As Senior Risk Manager in E&R, you will lead risk management across North America projects, guiding PRR activities and advising project leadership. You’ll develop practical risk tools, deliver training, and ensure consistent application of the PRR Practice. You’ll collaborate with project teams and leaders to mitigate financial and reputational risks throughout pursuit to execution. This role provides broad visibility across the E&R portfolio and a real opportunity to shape risk management practices.

Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee PRR practice for E&R, including governance activities and supervision of the E&R Risk Manager
- Lead risk reviews on large, complex, high-risk projects (BOURC and ELRC)
- Audit select projects post-BOURC for compliance and drive risk mitigation discussions
- Coordinate between E&R BOU, ELRC, and other business lines to ensure consistent PRR execution
- Develop and customize risk procedures tailored to client, scope, and project needs
- Collaborate with Commercial Leaders to align risk with client needs and Stantec goals
- Deliver risk management training and facilitate risk-focused discussions with leadership
- Create new tools (risk guidance, libraries, risk registers) to improve risk management
- Document and maintain risk-related practices with MMM Discipline Leadership
- Engage with PMCLs and PIRs to ensure risk monitoring and mitigation across projects
- Provide guidance to E&R Risk Manager and supervise PRR implementation
- Solicit and communicate risk feedback to leadership and ensure risk awareness culture
- Promote health and safety risk considerations within projects
- Support governance reviews for large/high-risk engagements and track mitigations
- Assist pursuit teams to identify elements with significant financial/reputational risk
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or related technical field
- Minimum 15 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with Alternate Project Delivery (APD) or large heavy civil projects is preferred
- PM Certification, risk management certification and/or Professional Licensure is preferred
- Strong leadership, collaboration and communication abilities
- Willingness to travel to US, Canadian, and global offices and client sites
