Senior Product Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Product Engineer, you will own the engineering lifecycle of GSM-R and FRMCS on-board communications systems and related equipment. You’ll partner with Sales, Product Management, and Production to shape solutions from bids through design, validation, and certification, ensuring compliance and lifecycle viability. You’ll act as a SME for internal and external stakeholders and help drive product approvals and interoperability standards. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge rail communication tech and cross-functional delivery in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end engineering lifecycle for core products and ancillary equipment
• Oversee change control, BOM updates, modification records, and product documentation
• Specify, design, and maintain installation kits for cab radio and data radio products
• Support sales with technical responses, compliance statements, and tender contributions
• Contribute to product roadmaps and feature definitions
• Assist with design drawings and CAD assemblies for project needs
• Coordinate approvals and certification to EU/UK interoperability standards (CCS TSI/NTSN)
• Engage with external approvals bodies and industry groups to support FRMCS transition

Key requirements

• Experience with product engineering lifecycle management
• Ability to learn and use 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD/Inventor/SolidWorks)
• Proficient MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Strong problem solving and technical writing abilities
• Good communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Background in communications technology (GSM, 3G/4G/5G, IoT) beneficial but not essential
