Overview

As a Senior/Principal Structural Engineer in Ramboll’s London Building Structures team, you will lead diverse projects from concept to delivery, driving structural design, collaboration and low-carbon solutions. You’ll represent Ramboll in client meetings, mentor engineers, and take ownership on projects. The role blends leadership with hands-on technical work on landmark and international projects within a supportive, flexible culture. You’ll contribute to Ramboll’s mission of sustainable, liveable buildings and group growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and agree structural concepts and design philosophies
  • Inspire and enthuse engineers and technicians on projects
  • Liaise with clients and collaborators, representing Ramboll at project meetings
  • Take ownership as day-to-day lead on a project or part of a project
  • Push the boundaries of low-carbon design
  • Lead the design process for projects (size suitable for level of experience)
  • Collaborate with London team and beyond to implement Ramboll Business Plan

Key requirements

  • Chartered with IStructE, ICE, or international equivalent
  • Excellent communicator; able to explain complex engineering principles in plain language (verbal, written, sketching)
  • Track record on projects with high design, sustainability, or re-use of assets
  • Experience in design of primary construction materials (steel, concrete, timber); good knowledge of building construction; MMC experience beneficial
  • Passion for sustainable solutions
  • Multidisciplinary mindset and willingness to learn wider aspects of building design
