Senior Engineering Manager

Overview

In this role, you lead delivery and technical direction for the Diagnose & Prescribe (D&P) service estate, shaping how learners and employers get diagnosed, prescribed, and onboarded. You’ll craft AI-native, event-driven platforms that scale from beta to production, balancing speed with safety given financial and regulatory risk. You’ll build a high-trust team, collaborate with Product, Design, and GTM, and directly influence strategy while staying hands-on. This is a pivotal, transformation-driven position at a fast-growing AI-native company.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery, technical direction, and team health for the D&P service estate across diagnosis, prescription, and onboarding
• Lead AI-heavy services (RAG, LLM-scored assessment) to map learner/employer needs
• Develop prescription and eligibility components leveraging levy funds and regulatory constraints
• Advance the platform arc by migrating from legacy monolith to dedicated services and scaling AI-native product
• Coach and grow the team, establish growth plans, and maintain high-performance, AI-native rhythms
• Stay hands-on with design reviews, API contracts (RabbitMQ) and critical coding to de-risk delivery
• Deliver predictably using cycle time, failure rate, MTTR, and balancing speed with change-safety
• Raise the AI-native bar by sharing practices across teams and improving discovery-to-build loops
• Partner with Product, Design, and GTM to translate behavior into technical direction on eligibility and recommendations

Key requirements

• Engineering management of full-stack teams shipping production software
• Experience shipping AI features to real users and operating them
• Strong Python/TypeScript with React/Next.js, Node/Express, and related tech
• PostgreSQL scale with ORM and careful migration discipline
• Event-driven architectures with RabbitMQ, versioned events, idempotency
• High engineering maturity: typing, testing, ADRs, CI/CD, observability
• AI-native delivery experience using tools like Claude Code and Cursor, with context management and tool design
