In this role you will perform genomic analyses within the EXPERTS-ALS programme, linking multi-omics and clinical data to uncover genomic markers and disease mechanisms. You will collaborate with wet-lab and bioinformatics teams to generate, analyse, and interpret findings, and contribute to high-profile publications and presentations. The position sits in the UK MND Research Institute within King’s College London and supports a translational trajectory from discovery to clinical testing. Responsibilities
- Conduct genomic analyses of EXPERTS-ALS and other samples
- Integrate genomic findings with clinical data, epigenetics, transcriptomics, and proteomics
- Collaborate with wet-lab and bioinformatics teams to generate, analyse, and interpret results
- Present findings at national/international conferences and meetings
- Publish results in peer-reviewed journals
- Supervise students and junior researchers as needed
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of sequencing technologies and analytical methods
Key requirements
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g., bioinformatics, Genetics)
- Up to date knowledge of NGS pipelines
- Experience with large-scale DNA sequencing datasets
- Developed and applied innovative data analysis methods
- Experience analysing clinical samples for genomic markers of disease risk, phenotype, and treatment response
- Proficient in Unix-based systems and programming in Python, Java, Bash, Perl, or R
- Proven experience supervising students in genetics
- Publication record commensurate with grade
