Overview
In this role you will lead mechanical design activities for water sector projects, delivering upgrades to critical infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality outcomes. The role supports development of the mechanical team and mentors junior engineers. You will work on plant upgrades across water and wastewater sites, pumping stations and reservoirs, contributing to AMP8 objectives. This is a hands-on, impact-driven position at the core of essential infrastructure delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead interfaces and integration of mechanical design with other disciplines
- Manage, review, and prepare mechanical design deliverables (calculations, drawings, documentation, schedules, specifications, design reports)
- Ensure time/cost/quality balance on projects
- Provide QA by performing check/review of others’ work
- Support development of the mechanical engineering team, coach and mentor junior engineers
- Identify appropriate resources for projects and ensure effective allocation
Key requirements
- Significant experience in the Water Sector
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Ideally Chartered Mechanical Engineer
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices and standards for process industries
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet deadlines
