Overview

In this role you support the Energy Civil & Structural team with on-site inspections of HV substations, producing reports and risk assessments to ensure safety and design compliance. You’ll collaborate with designers, assessors and clients through the project lifecycle, combining field visits with reporting and design input. The position offers hands-on site work within a global engineering context and opportunities to develop professionally and contribute to landmark energy infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and inspections on behalf of the Energy Civil & Structural team
  • Visually assess Civil & Structural assets in HV Substations
  • Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements, coordinating with other disciplines and site stakeholders
  • Escort and mentor colleagues on site unfamiliar with the environment
  • Create detailed Site Visit Reports (photos, sketches, Word/Excel)
  • Provide input to Designers and DH15 assessors in reporting and design review meetings
  • Engage in discussions with clients, contractors, and HV Plant designers

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural engineering
  • Experience in Electricity Infrastructure (ideally NG Substations)
  • Familiarity with Construction sites and/or Design processes
  • CSCS/EUSR (or equivalent)
  • NG Persons (National Grid BESC)
  • Experience with DH15 Reports
  • Experience with on-site Destructive and Non-Destructive Testing
  • Willingness to travel to sites (overnight stays if required)
  • Experience in energy transmission and distribution sectors preferred
