Overview
In this role you will support the safe delivery of nuclear separation and decommissioning activities, providing expert health and safety guidance and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will work with project teams to implement RAMS, conduct inspections, and promote a strong safety culture within a highly regulated environment. You’ll liaise with regulators such as ONR and help embed lessons learned from incidents. This opportunity lets you shape safety practices on major nuclear projects and contribute to a cleaner, safer future.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert health and safety advice to project teams in nuclear separation and decommissioning
- Ensure compliance with UK legislation (Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM, nuclear-specific requirements)
- Support development, implementation, and review of RAMS
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety tours, implement corrective actions
- Monitor contractor performance and permit-to-work adherence
- Assist in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and reporting
- Promote positive safety culture through engagement and behavioural safety initiatives
- Liaise with regulatory bodies including ONR as required
- Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation
Key requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (desirable)
- Membership of IOSH preferred (Tech IOSH / Grad IOSH / CMIOSH)
- Relevant nuclear site training/clearance (SC/DV may be required)
