Overview
As Indirect Tax Senior Manager for Amazon Leo in EMEA, you drive the indirect tax strategy for the consumer satellite service launch. You will partner with product, engineering, finance and legal to embed tax considerations from the outset and navigate cross-border VAT across Europe. You lead interactions with tax authorities and external advisers, translating tax requirements into system and process designs. This role offers exposure to innovative telecom-like services, bundled offerings, and complex billing environments with a direct impact on launch success.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Leo consumer indirect tax position across EMEA from strategy to go-live and steady state
- Advise on new features and bundling of connectivity with hardware and other services
- Partner with Leo business teams early in product development to reflect tax in requirements documents
- Collaborate with Engineering to translate tax needs into system logic and testing for compliant launch
- Advise on customer-facing outputs such as invoicing, billing design, pricing displays and communications
- Manage external advisers: set scope, evaluate output, finalise tax positions
- Coordinate with tax authorities across EMEA including audits and inquiries with compliance teams
- Provide technical direction to junior colleagues supporting the business line
- Support registrations, returns, audits, and process improvements in collaboration with compliance
- Balance advisory work with live business support and cross-functional planning
Key requirements
- Professional qualification in tax, accounting or law
- Knowledge of VAT in EU/UK
- Strong understanding of tax compliance principles across jurisdictions
- Experience in corporate taxation in large firms or in-house
- Experience managing and developing international tax teams
- Experience liaising with tax authorities including audits
- Ability to analyze statutes and regulations and extract actionable guidance
- Tax advisory experience (non-compliance)
- EMEA-focused indirect tax experience
- Experience in multinational and/or professional organization contexts for indirect, direct, transfer pricing, and corporate tax advisory
- Experience in international indirect tax planning and cross-border tax considerations
- Advisory experience in a large accounting, law or in-house setting
- Exposure to cross-border transactions with multinationals
