System Safety Engineer

Overview

As a System Safety Engineer at Leonardo in Yeovil, you contribute to the safe design of the complete air vehicle and support the product lifecycle from innovation through in-service support. You will work within the System Safety Engineering team across a wide range of helicopters and uncrewed systems. Your work includes hazard assessment and failure condition analysis to influence safe design and certification, plus developing necessary modifications in service. This role offers exposure to advanced rotorcraft platforms and a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Carry out system safety analysis activities for design and in-service support
• Author Functional Hazard Assessments with technical specialists
• Perform detailed failure condition analyses to influence safe design and certification
• Develop modifications for in-service support of existing Leonardo products
• Plan and execute tasks to meet timescales and costs
• Collaborate with external customers and internal teams to ensure effective safety outcomes

Key requirements

• Training in formal safety analysis methods or extensive experience in equivalent skills
• Knowledge of Fault Tree+ or equivalent IT tools
• Ability to plan and execute tasks to timescales and costs
• Good interpersonal skills for team working and external customer relationships
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
