Overview

In this Senior Counsel role, you help teams deploy technology responsibly within Ethics and Compliance. You will partner with product, engineering, data science, security, and business units to identify and address regulatory and governance risks throughout the product lifecycle. You’ll help build and operate our AI governance program and translate complex laws into practical steps for teams. You’ll play a key role in responding to EU and GDPR frameworks, contracts, audits, and incidents. This position offers impact across product, risk, and policy domains in a fast-moving tech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advise teams across the product lifecycle from design to retirement
  • Assess risks related to AI, data use, privacy, cybersecurity, and digital products
  • Help build and operate the AI governance program (reviews, risk assessments, policies, controls, records)
  • Guide responses to EU AI Act, EU Cyber Resilience Act, GDPR, and related laws
  • Advise on contracts and third‑party technology; support audits and regulatory inquiries
  • Assist teams in incident response and post‑event actions
  • Communicate complex rules clearly to technical and business colleagues and track action items to completion

Key requirements

  • UK or EU/EEA or relevant jurisdiction legal qualification
  • roughly 4–8 years post-qualification experience or equivalent
  • strong experience in AI governance, privacy, cybersecurity, or technology compliance (with working knowledge of a second area)
  • familiarity with EU AI Act, EU Cyber Resilience Act, GDPR and related frameworks
  • experience advising product or engineering teams and translating requirements into workable processes
