Overview

In this role you will establish and lead SS&C’s product research function, guiding evidence-based discovery across product life cycles. You will own user, market, and competitor research to uncover customer needs and opportunities, shaping product strategy and delivery. You’ll collaborate across Product, Design, and Engineering to embed continuous discovery and experimentation, driving customer-centric innovation at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own and orchestrate user, market, competitor, and industry research across product areas
  • Champion research-informed decision making across Product, Design, and Engineering
  • Define and implement our product research strategy, standards, and processes
  • Act as the research authority, establishing best practices for user-centered development
  • Collaborate with Product Analytics to design and interpret A/B and multivariate tests
  • Plan and execute end-to-end research using qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Develop an insight repository for easy access to findings
  • Synthesize client feedback to improve satisfaction and close the loop
  • Support testing and experimentation with PMs, Designers, and Engineers
  • Translate findings into clear narratives and actionable recommendations for diverse audiences
  • Create personas, journey maps, and behavior frameworks to inform strategy
  • Deliver presentations and visuals that articulate the voice of the customer
  • Advise internal teams and contribute to client-facing projects focused on experience optimization
  • Foster continuous discovery and experimentation within cross-functional teams
  • Provide coaching and knowledge-sharing to uplift research capabilities

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years in senior UX/Product Research or similar roles
  • Proven track record of actionable research influencing product strategy or commercial decisions
  • Hands-on experience with qualitative and quantitative methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing, focus groups, A/B testing)
  • Experience with competitor and market analysis
  • Proficient with research tools (UserTesting, Maze, Hotjar, Typeform, Optimal Workshop, Dovetail, Lookback)
  • Strong analytical skills and data interpretation
  • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities
  • Highly organized, self-starter capable of establishing new functions and processes
