Overview

In this role you supervise and coordinate the maintenance, development, testing, and deployment of electronic systems that support BUTEC’s maritime range instrumentation, underwater tracking, and data acquisition. You will guide a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring safe, compliant delivery and reliable critical assets. You will work across engineering delivery, operational support, and project execution to keep complex range systems available. This is an onsite leadership position at the BUTEC facilities, contributing to advanced underwater technology and secure operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and supervise Electronics Engineers and Electronic Technicians
  • Provide technical expertise for electronic systems related to maritime instrumentation, communications, telemetry, tracking, and data acquisition
  • Plan and manage engineering projects from concept through implementation
  • Provide engineering support to range operations and trials
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety legislation, and engineering standards

Key requirements

  • Significant electronics engineering experience in defence, maritime, industrial, telecommunications, or similar technical environments
  • Proven experience supervising engineering teams and managing technical work programmes
  • Strong knowledge of electronic test equipment, fault-finding techniques, and system integration
  • Experience producing technical documentation, reports, and engineering procedures
  • Experience with underwater instrumentation, sonar systems, RF communications, telemetry, or data acquisition systems
  • Knowledge of networked electronic systems and industrial control systems
