Overview

As a Principal Tunnelling Engineer, you will lead design elements of major tunnelling projects and mentor junior engineers. You will liaise with clients and the wider design team to shape development, while being guided by a Technical Lead. You’ll contribute to multi-year, multimillion-dollar civil infrastructure schemes across the UK and abroad. Responsibilities

  • Act as Design Lead for project elements, coordinating with clients and the design team on day-to-day design development
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers in infrastructure design
  • Contribute to the development of design concepts through to detailed design for tunnelling and underground works
  • Liaise with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and codes
  • Support delivery of major civils tunnelling projects across the UK and internationally

Key requirements

  • Degree level in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering (ideally with MSc/MEng in Geotechnical/Tunnelling Engineering) and professional membership toward qualification
  • Experience as a designer in reinforced concrete for underground structures (e.g., secant piles, capping beams, shaft linings, in situ concrete elements, D-Walls, tunnels)
  • Solid familiarity with geotechnical engineering principles and soil-structure interaction
