Responsibilities
- Lead high-value construction matters from inception to completion
- Draft and negotiate contracts, appointments, and ancillary documents
- Advise on multiple contract forms (JCT, NEC, FIDIC, IChemE) and energy-related agreements (EPC, O&M)
- Support and mentor junior lawyers; collaborate with partners and cross-functional teams
- Develop and manage client relationships across public and private sectors
- Engage in some contentious work (adjudication, Pre-Action Protocol, TCC, arbitration)
- Contribute to business development and the firm’s growth strategy
Key requirements
- Qualified solicitor with 7+ years’ PQE (England & Wales)
- Experience in Construction and Engineering, primarily non-contentious with some contentious exposure
- Extensive drafting/negotiation across contract families including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, IChemE, EPCs, and O&M
- Strong client relationship and communication skills; ability to manage workload and delegate
