Principal Structural Engineer – Building Structures

Overview

In this role you will deliver structural engineering design for discrete work packages, supervise technicians, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop coordinated solutions. You’ll perform site inspections during construction and contribute to project success under the lead structural engineer. The position offers exposure to landmark projects within a global firm and opportunities to advance towards Chartered status while supporting low carbon design. Responsibilities

• design structural solutions for defined work packages and prepare reports, calculations, and specifications
• supervise technicians in producing 3D models and drawings communicating the design
• collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated designs
• communicate designs verbally and through sketches, drawings, and presentations
• visit sites to inspect constructions and assess existing structures
• report to the lead structural engineer and engage with external consultants as needed

Key requirements

• engineering degree and Chartered status (MIStructE / MICE)
• working knowledge of structural engineering principles and Eurocodes
• developing use of analytical techniques and design software
• interest in low carbon design and embodied carbon assessment
• responsibility, proactivity, and willingness to mentor junior team members
• security clearance prior to appointment
