Sr. Forward Deployed AI Engineer (Remote Eligible in the UK)

Overview

In this role you lead the most complex AI deployments for Smartsheet, owning end-to-end delivery from discovery to production. You architect multi-agent solutions and tailor MCP resource packs to client needs, shaping how 200+ consultants and partners operate. You mentor engineers, drive the intelligence loop, and present findings in strategy sessions. You build Deployment Kits as a showcase of your expertise and impact. This is a platform-building role that blends technical depth with cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi-system AI deployments from scope to production, managing customer relationships
• Own and evolve the AI workshop program, customize modules, translate outputs into production requirements
• Architect multi-agent solutions and choose coordination patterns per client workflow and compliance needs
• Design client- and industry-specific MCP resource packs for smarter connected AI surfaces
• Own Deployment Kit quality and ensure documentation is accessible to non-engineers
• Lead Solutions Enablement Sprints with training materials and certification criteria
• Drive the intelligence loop: author memos, present findings, contribute components, file platform improvement RFCs
• Mentor junior FDEs on engagements, code reviews, and Deployment Kit quality

Key requirements

• 6–10+ years in production software engineering with 3+ years deploying AI/ML to production
• Deep Python; strong TypeScript/JavaScript
• Proven track record in complex enterprise technical engagements and customer relationships
• Experience with production LLMs: multi-agent orchestration, MCP/tool-use, RAG optimization, evaluation frameworks
• System architecture across enterprise systems, cloud, and AI services
• Ability to create reusable technical assets for production
• Strategic, platform-focused thinking; strong written and verbal communication
• Travel availability; eligible to work in the UK on an ongoing basis
