Overview
As Technical Engineering Manager, you provide technical leadership across engineering operations for a diverse portfolio, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient service delivery. You drive asset performance, lifecycle planning, and sustainability initiatives, working with site teams, clients, and contractors to meet standards and KPIs. You lead mechanical and electrical disciplines, governance, and risk management to optimise building performance. This role offers impact across asset care, resilience, and continuous improvement within a collaborative, safety-conscious culture.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across engineering operations to meet service standards and KPIs
- Support asset management strategies including CAFM data management and lifecycle planning
- Oversee high/low voltage electrical activities with regulatory compliance
- Support building performance, energy optimisation, and sustainability initiatives
- Assess proposed engineering works for technical suitability and impact
- Develop and maintain engineering standards, SOPs, and governance frameworks
- Provide technical support and escalation for operations, including out-of-hours
- Ensure resources and competencies align with operational needs
- Lead investigations and root cause analysis of significant incidents
- Conduct technical audits and compliance inspections across sites
- Contribute to Emergency Operating Procedures, risk management, and critical environment documentation
- Promote safe systems of work, permit-to-work, and LOTO processes
- Monitor infrastructure resilience and support testing/commissioning
- Produce technical reports and risk assessments; identify efficiency opportunities
- Review plant performance for continuous improvement; ensure compliance with standards and regulations
- Attend client meetings and provide technical guidance to senior leaders
- Communicate risks, opportunities, and contractual concerns to stakeholders
- Foster culture of safety, professionalism, collaboration, and improvement
Key requirements
- Senior engineering or technical management experience in hard services, facilities management, building services, or critical environments
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems
- Experience leading engineering teams, contractors, and service delivery
- Deep understanding of statutory compliance, governance, and operational risk
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and reporting abilities
- Proven ability to influence and build relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise in fast-paced settings
