Overview

In this Nights Maintenance Engineer role at Greencore Newark, you ensure reliable operation of processing and packaging assets through planned and predictive maintenance. You’ll support or lead machine changeovers, tackle breakdowns, and drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced dessert production site. This role sits within a collaborative engineering team and contributes to site performance and safety. A strong focus on maintenance discipline and problem solving helps you shape asset reliability at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct planned maintenance of processing and packaging assets
  • Conduct predictive maintenance (condition-based monitoring) of assets
  • Respond to breakdowns and perform reactive maintenance
  • Identify faults across electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, automation and pneumatics
  • Lead or support machinery changeovers and set ups
  • Manufacture and repair component parts for assets
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects to optimise assets or processes

Key requirements

  • Engineering apprenticeship (C&G / EAL NVQ Level 3 / 4 or OAL FDEM Diploma)
  • Current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations (C&G Level 3, achieve within 12 months)
  • Application of Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and procedures
  • Planning works and writing reports
  • Verify assets meet performance criteria after work
  • Reading and adhering to site SOPs
  • CMMS experience (achieve within 12 months)
  • Electrical bias
  • advantageous: Mechanical principles, F&D assets, welding, machining, turning, hydraulic, pneumatic & thermodynamics systems, electrical principals, motors, motor control circuits, motion control, encoders, PLCs, sensors
