Overview

As Contracts Manager, you will oversee commercial delivery across live civil projects in highways, water and general civil works from the Rotherham base. You’ll supervise financial monitoring, safety, environment and quality compliance, and ensure procedures meet company objectives. You’ll liaise with estimating, commercial, procurement and site teams to plan pre-construction, manage supply chains, and deliver projects on time and within budget. Your role shapes project outcomes through risk control, KPI reporting and robust contract administration. This is a hands-on position that combines leadership with on-site presence to enable successful delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control contract finances while ensuring HSE, Environmental and Quality compliance.
  • Plan and manage pre-construction activities with detailed programming for site delivery.
  • Collaborate with estimating on tendering and with commercial teams on contract review.
  • Coordinate with procurement to set up and manage supply chain partners.
  • Produce RAMS and case-specific risk management packs pre-construction.
  • Reconcile materials per procedures to maximize value and prevent delays.
  • Attend tender handovers and deliver pre-start meetings to site teams.
  • Ensure site teams follow commercial policies and maintain end-of-life forecasts.
  • Produce and review progress reports, costs and forecasts.
  • Engage subcontractors appropriately and manage risk registers and CVRs.
  • Oversee weekly progress reviews, lookahead programmes and accurate project reporting.
  • Maintain and manage construction sites and subcontractors; onboard and manage subcontractors and labor.
  • Develop on-site leadership by supporting Foremen and site management.
  • Possess flexibility to work from site and ensure HE& E documentation up to date.
  • Ensure ITPs are produced and safety standards met; deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key requirements

  • Experience in Civil Engineering projects in Water, Highways or Ground Works.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • NEC 3&4 Contract knowledge, including drafting notifications and client relations on contractual matters.
  • Experience leading a team of site workers across multiple sites.
  • Experience planning and organizing own workload; manage stakeholders.
  • Good verbal and written skills; knowledge of health and safety legislation; knowledge of CDM and industry requirements.
  • Willingness to undertake training and development; RAMS production; take off materials from drawings for procurement.
