Overview

As Project Director for Planning & Scheduling, you drive the planning capability for high‑profile infrastructure and defence programmes. You lead client-facing commissions, shape project controls integration, and mentor cross‑functional teams to deliver robust schedules and performance. You will expand the Planning & Scheduling discipline across regional markets and contribute to growth and strategic initiatives. This role offers the chance to influence major projects and collaborate with a national network of experts in a dynamic, client‑focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client-facing commissions on high‑value, complex projects.
  • Drive improvements in Planning & Scheduling and interface with project controls.
  • Develop interdisciplinary relationships to benefit clients.
  • Support growth, resource planning, and business strategy opportunities.
  • Ensure project scope delivery and high client satisfaction.
  • Provide senior line management, career development, and coaching.
  • Develop the project controls capability through recruitment and training.
  • Implement changes to Planning & Scheduling processes and roll‑out initiatives.
  • Engage with national/regional communities of practice.
  • Provide SME analysis to stakeholders and support decision making.
  • Lead training for less experienced leaders and teams.
  • Contribute to national/regional strategic initiatives.

Key requirements

  • Subject matter expertise in Planning & Scheduling tools and techniques.
  • Experience interfacing with other Project Controls disciplines.
  • Experience directing Planning & Scheduling on complex programmes.
  • Experience leading large teams.
  • Ability to work across delivery and transformation projects.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts.
  • UK Defence requirements: sole national status and ability to obtain SC Clearance.
