Senior Associate – Medical Negligence

Overview

In this role you will manage a claimant clinical negligence caseload within a collaborative Manchester team, handling high-quality, high-value cases under supervision. You will support Partners on complex litigation while building your own profile and contributing to business development. The position offers involvement in client care, expert instruction, and a pathway to grow within a cross-office, values-driven firm.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of claimant clinical negligence matters with supervision on complex cases
• Support Partners on high-value and complex litigation
• Draft pleadings, witness statements, schedules of loss and settlement documents
• Instruct and liaise with counsel, medical experts, and other third parties
• Maintain regular client contact with sensitivity and professionalism
• Progress claims from inception to settlement or trial
• Contribute to business development and networking to raise profiles
• Supervise and mentor junior team members and ensure regulatory compliance

Key requirements

• UK qualified solicitor with typically 7+ PQE
• Demonstrable experience in claimant clinical negligence work
• Strong technical ability handling complex/high-value claims
• Excellent drafting, analytical and case management skills
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients, experts and colleagues
• Enthusiastic team player with commitment to quality and client care
• Good case management skills
• Strong academics essential
