Overview

In this role you will diagnose and resolve electronics issues on laser products, driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to support NPI and sustainment, ensuring robust test and board-level solutions. The position emphasizes hands-on problem solving, collaboration, and delivering quality improvements, with a clear path to senior leadership. This Edinburgh-based role offers close interaction with operations and supply chain to scale and sustain advanced targeting products.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and diagnose electronics failures, identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Manage escalation of critical faults to ensure timely resolution
  • Collaborate with design and other engineering disciplines to resolve complex issues
  • Provide detailed problem-resolution reports to management and customers
  • Manage component obsolescence issues
  • Support transition to production for new laser products (NPI) with supply chain
  • Assist in resolving circuit board production issues with supply chain
  • Ensure robust board-level test solutions across the supply chain
  • Provide feedback on manufacturability, testability and potential cost reductions based on field data
  • Engage in training and knowledge sharing with colleagues and partners

Key requirements

  • Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent experience in Electronics or related engineering discipline
  • Solid knowledge of electronic circuits and PCB manufacturing processes
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills for analogue, digital and power circuits
  • Practical laboratory skills with standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies)
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make sound engineering judgments in a timely manner
  • Experience with hardware product sustainment, testing or design verification
  • Good communication skills and ability to work across engineering and non-engineering teams
