Overview

In this role you join WSP’s Local Government team to deliver highways, bridges and infrastructure for county clients. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to provide innovative, compliant design solutions and ensure projects meet program, budget and technical standards. The position offers exposure to a major transport programme and opportunities to contribute to high-quality delivery across the southwest. You will actively shape design outcomes and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve meaningful community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Develop highway designs across multi-disciplinary projects through all lifecycle stages
  • Ensure delivery aligns with programme, budget, technical standards and legal requirements
  • Assist Project Managers with planning, programming, technical input, pricing and cost estimation
  • Prepare design documentation, drawings, reports, and technical submissions
  • Manage a portfolio of varied multi-disciplinary projects simultaneously
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to ensure successful delivery
  • Support site-based activities, including supervising and monitoring contractor compliance with contract requirements

Key requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent in highway design environment
  • Experience in multidisciplinary highway design across different project stages
  • Technical knowledge in road geometry, junction design, active travel schemes, drainage, road restraint systems, and traffic signs/markings
  • Passion for design
  • ability to develop innovative, practical engineering solutions
