Overview

As a Senior Sanctions Analyst in the Economic Crime Compliance team, you will help strengthen the Group’s sanctions risk management framework. In a 2LoD setting, you will provide topic expert guidance, support complex investigations, and ensure sanctions risks are identified, assessed and mitigated. You will influence risk controls, assist with escalations, and collaborate with stakeholders to uphold regulatory compliance amid evolving sanctions regimes. This role offers cross-office collaboration, potential hybrid work, and the opportunity to shape effective, principled risk outcomes in a purpose-driven financial institution.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Sanctions Compliance Lead in developing and overseeing the sanctions risk management framework
  • Provide expert guidance on sanctions matters to the business
  • Support complex investigations and escalations related to sanctions
  • Ensure sanctions risks are identified, assessed and managed across the organization
  • Collaborate to influence control design and risk management practices within a 2LoD environment

Key requirements

  • Experience as a sanctions advisor or in a sanctions-focused Economic Crime role within a retail banking (or similar) environment
  • Strong knowledge of UK, EU, UN and OFAC sanctions regimes
  • Experience handling complex sanctions investigations and escalations
  • Ability to provide risk-based advice to senior stakeholders
  • Exposure to sanctions risk management tools and technology
  • Second line oversight experience (beneficial)
  • ICA, ACAMS or similar qualification (beneficial)
