Principal Electrical Engineer – Water Sector

As Principal Electrical Engineer in Stantec’s Water team, you will lead electrical and EICA design efforts for major water and wastewater projects, guiding technical delivery across the full lifecycle. You’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with clients and partners, and shape the electrical engineering capability. Your work will help deliver sustainable, compliant infrastructure that strengthens resilience in UK water networks. Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of electrical and EICA design for water and wastewater projects
• Provide technical guidance across the full project lifecycle
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal specialists to deliver innovative solutions
• Mentor developing engineers and grow technical capability
• Coordinate multidisciplinary designs and resolve technical challenges to meet regulatory and environmental requirements
• Support development of engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of electrical engineering capability
• Engage with Project Managers and supply chain partners to ensure quality deliverables

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards registration
• Experience delivering electrical or EICA solutions in complex infrastructure
• Proven ability to lead technical delivery across multidisciplinary projects
• Strong understanding of electrical design principles, specifications and documentation
• Experience producing/reviewing SLDs, Control Philosophies, and technical reports
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
• Desirable: experience in UK water sector; utilities/infrastructure background; participation in workshops, design reviews or HAZOP; support bid/frameworks/client relationships
