Overview
In this senior leadership role, you define the architectural direction for next-generation processor technologies within a research‑led environment. You will guide long-term technology strategy, oversee architectural innovation, and drive the transition of research concepts into practical engineering solutions. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners to solve complex computing challenges at scale. This position offers the opportunity to influence future computing platforms and shape strategic technology programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of next-generation processor and system architectures
- Define long-term technical direction through research, evaluation and planning
- Identify emerging trends and assess their impact on future platforms
- Provide expert technical guidance across architectural programmes
- Lead advanced research activities to improve performance, scalability and efficiency
- Evaluate new architectural concepts via modelling, simulation and analysis
- Contribute to innovation initiatives and IP generation
- Support the transition of research concepts into practical engineering solutions
- Act as senior technical authority across architecture development programmes
- Mentor engineering teams and foster collaboration across multidisciplinary groups
- Promote engineering excellence and innovative thinking
- Work with software, hardware and systems teams to align with technology objectives
- Engage with external research organisations and industry partners
- Present technical recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Support delivery of long-term engineering programmes
Key requirements
- Significant experience in processor architecture, computer architecture or advanced systems engineering
- Strong understanding of ISA design, processor microarchitecture or HPC technologies
- Experience researching, developing or evolving advanced computing architectures
- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems through innovative engineering
- Excellent communication with technical and executive stakeholders
- Collaborative leadership with mentoring experience for senior teams
- A degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or related technical discipline
