Overview

As Senior Section Manager for Plot B2 in Oxford, you will lead the delivery of section packages for a landmark vaccinology and pandemic sciences facility. You will work within a high-end project team to meet time, cost, quality, safety and corporate responsibility targets, driving planning, risk and change management. You will oversee budget, progress reporting and resource planning while promoting innovation and best practice. This role offers impact at scale, shaping a world-class research campus that aims to attract funding and advance pandemic readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver section packages within time, cost, quality, safety and corporate responsibility parameters
  • Collaborate with planning to develop short-term programmes of work
  • Implement, measure and report on Environmental Management Plan
  • Maintain and update site inductions with daily presentations
  • Manage the budget and delivery of the section
  • Assess direct operative capability and performance
  • Provide accurate and timely progress reporting against the plan
  • Promote adoption of innovative ideas from within the business and workforce
  • Plan day-to-day resource programming and communicate to construction team
  • Interface with other section managers and Construction Managers to share best practice
  • Chair Trade Contractor meetings to review time, cost, quality, safety and corporate responsibility
  • Monitor external changes to work plans and report effects
  • Ensure effective implementation of Laing O’Rourke project management systems and procedures
  • Contribute to the contract review process

Key requirements

  • Fit out trade background OR degree qualified in Construction Management
  • Proven experience on projects of similar scale in high-end capacity
  • Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
  • Leadership and people management skills
  • Thorough understanding of project flow and demand fulfilment
