Head of Product & Engineering Operations

Overview

As Head of Product & Engineering Operations at Funding Circle, you will design and run the engine that unifies product, engineering and design into a high-performing build process. You’ll install an operating model across the three disciplines and drive leaders to execute it. You’ll shepherd the AI-native lifecycle programme from pilot to standard practice, turning it into the default way teams build. This role centers on building teams and scalable processes that accelerate value for small businesses.

Responsibilities

• Establish and manage core builders leadership rituals, cross-line product reviews, calibration sessions, and release gates
• Collaborate with VP Product, VP Engineering, and Design Leadership to raise the bar on what and how we build
• Pilot new frameworks quickly and embed them as permanent habits through hands-on leadership
• Embed AI-driven tools and automated workflows to modernise the product development lifecycle
• Lead the Product, Design and Engineering leadership team to continuously improve how we build great products
• Integrate regulatory and compliance checks into the delivery path without slowing shipment cycles

Key requirements

• Proven experience scaling Product Development Lifecycles in complex, embedded leadership roles
• Strong cross-functional fluency across Product, Engineering, and Design with credibility to challenge leadership
• Experience redesigning departmental workflows with a focus on AI-enabled product development (familiarity with Claude Code, Codex, or similar)
• Executive stakeholder management with ability to hold senior leaders accountable for continuous improvement
• Awareness of regulatory and compliance considerations in a fintech context
• Familiarity with fintech, lending, or financial services regulatory requirements (beneficial)
