Overview

Positively drive on-site operations at allocated Bristol projects, ensuring safety, quality and timely delivery. You will coordinate with the Contracts Manager, clients and subcontractors to keep programmes on track and support a zero-defect handover. The role combines hands-on site management with reporting, risk control and documentation to maintain a well-organised site environment. This is a people-focused, field leadership position where effective communication and proactive issue resolution matter for project success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day site operations on allocated projects
  • Plan and coordinate activities in line with the project programme
  • Attend progress meetings and report issues to Contracts Manager
  • Identify health, safety, programme, quality, productivity or cost risks
  • Coordinate direct labour and subcontractors to meet programme and standards
  • Monitor subcontractor activities and on-time delivery
  • Coordinate materials delivery to sustain progress
  • Maintain records of site variations, delays and issues
  • Ensure site safety and cleanliness; promote health and safety culture
  • Support zero-defect handover and professional client liaison
  • Maintain up-to-date site documentation and support site audits and corrective actions
  • Ensure works comply with drawings, RAMS and project requirements
  • Assist Contracts Manager in achieving programme, quality, safety and client satisfaction targets

Key requirements

  • Experience as Site Manager or similar site-based role
  • Construction, fit-out or shopfitting background
  • Strong knowledge of site operations and construction processes
  • Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors
  • Understanding of construction programmes and project delivery
  • Good knowledge of health and safety requirements and site procedures
  • Experience reviewing RAMS
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to identify issues early and resolve them proactively
  • Ability to work with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and project teams
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
