Overview
In this role you will lead mechanical engineering on transformational programmes for critical UK infrastructure in the water sector. You’ll guide a design team and work with cross‑border teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet quality standards. You’ll contribute to briefs, scopes of work, and bid proposals while managing time and budget to key milestones. The work spans pumps, blowers, screens and dosing plants, with an emphasis on regulation and safety compliance. This is a senior, impact‑driven position with breadth across design delivery and client liaison.
Responsibilities
- Lead a design team and ensure high‑quality mechanical engineering output
- Prepare briefs, scopes of work and contribute to bid proposals
- Manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes
- Coordinate with UK and overseas teams to deliver integrated designs
- Adhere to quality assurance standards in design
- Engage in design delivery for water sector projects
- Maintain awareness of relevant UK standards and best practices
Key requirements
- Chartered Mechanical Engineer
- Experience in the Water Sector leading design delivery including multidisciplinary design
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, screens, chemical dosing) and current UK design standards
- Strong understanding of CDM and ATEX regulations
