Lead Quality Engineer

Overview

As Lead Quality Engineer, you will steer quality assurance for the T26 Combat Systems across ship integration and the supply chain. You’ll work with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to ensure work is delivered right first time, promoting best practices and continuous improvement. You will witness key project events, approve deliverables, and drive quality, cost, and schedule objectives in a complex, regulated environment. This role sits within the T26 QA Team, offering influence across suppliers, operations, and customers in a mission-driven defence context.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex problem-solving with stakeholders across business and supply chain
• Guide cross-functional teams in applying processes, standards, and industry best practices
• Identify improvement opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Build collaborative relationships with suppliers, engaging stakeholders up to executive level
• Witness key project events, review outcomes, and approve deliverables for quality and compliance
• Lead quality assurance activities at ship integration level and across the supply chain for T26 projects

Key requirements

• Experience/knowledge of quality management systems and standards such as ISO 9001 and AQAP in regulated environments
• Confident communicator with ability to adapt messaging for reporting and problem-solving
• Proactive, self-motivated, able to work independently and deliver results in demanding environments
• Experience/knowledge of design requirements management, verification & validation, and product lifecycle management in defence/manufacturing/engineering/quality environments
