Production Team Leader

Overview

In this role you lead the Production Team for New Drug Substance, overseeing tech transfer from Development to Technical Operations and PPQ readiness. You partner with cross-functional groups to ensure a smooth handover and commercial readiness. You guide a high-performing team to meet production targets safely and compliantly, embedding accountability and continuous improvement. This is a pivotal role at Ipsen’s Wrexham site, supporting a major site expansion and the pursuit of neuroscience-focused innovation.

Responsibilities

• Own successful technology transfer and PPQ readiness from Development to Technical Operations
• Collaborate with PharmDev, QA, Engineering, and Supply Chain to troubleshoot and enable long-term commercial readiness
• Lead and develop a team of operators to deliver the manufacturing schedule safely, efficiently, and compliantly
• Build and maintain team capability through training, competence, and engagement
• Drive a culture of accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement
• Contribute to site strategy for operational excellence and sustainable growth

Key requirements

• Substantial pharmaceutical sector experience with drug technology transfer and New Product Introduction (NPI) from R&D into commercial manufacturing
• Project management capabilities
• Strong knowledge of cGMP and EHS compliance
• Experience leading or supervising a manufacturing or technical operations team
