Portfolio Solutions – Class Underwriter

Overview

In this role you will manage and underwrite binding business within Portfolio Solutions, ensuring risk fits within authority and governance standards. You will perform pre-bind reviews, analyze exposure, and guide authority levels. You’ll oversee facility performance, bondereaux/audit reviews, and advise on changes to underwriting authorities. You’ll contribute to portfolio strategy and product development while supporting data-driven planning to improve profitability. This position offers cross-functional collaboration with brokers, coverholders, and internal teams in a growth‑oriented, inclusion‑minded organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage and underwrite binding business within approved authority levels
• Conduct detailed pre-bind underwriting reviews and exposure analysis
• Oversee facility performance, bordereaux and audit reviews
• Recommend adjustments to underwriting authorities and processes
• Contribute to portfolio strategy and product development
• Support business planning with data-driven insights
• Engage with brokers, coverholders and internal stakeholders to maintain service levels
• Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s and AIG/Talbot standards

Key requirements

• Experience underwriting in Lloyd’s or company market, ideally Binding authorities and/or Portfolio Solutions
• Strong analytical skills to interpret risk data and inform decisions
• Maintain high-quality underwriting files within defined structure
• Understanding of underwriting governance and risk appetite frameworks
• Ability to work cross-functionally with underwriting, actuarial, operations, DA, finance and product leadership
• Excellent communication and relationship-management skills
• Proficiency in Excel, Power BI or similar tools
• Collaborative mindset and adaptability in a growth environment
• Attention to detail and compliance with Lloyd’s, regulatory, and AIG/Talbot standards
