Senior Control Systems Consultant

Overview

As a Senior Control Systems Consultant at Jacobs, you will lead the assessment, design and delivery of OT and control system solutions for Critical National Infrastructure and regulated environments. You’ll work within multidisciplinary teams to enhance resilience, cybersecurity and modernization of industrial automation. The role offers exposure to electricity generation, transmission, distribution and water sectors, with a focus on delivering long-term operational impact. You’ll shape technology-driven change while mentoring junior staff and strengthening client partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Lead assessment, design and delivery of control system and OT solutions in CNI and regulated environments
• Collaborate with clients to translate requirements into practical control architectures and roadmaps
• Perform control system assessments, architecture reviews and due diligence to drive resilience and innovation
• Contribute to control system strategies, digital roadmaps and modernization programs
• Oversee specification, design, testing, FAT, SAT and commissioning of PLC, SCADA, DCS, RTU solutions
• Review industrial network architectures and advise on performance, cybersecurity, resilience, maintainability
• Produce technical documentation, reports and client deliverables to Jacobs standards
• Provide technical assurance, peer reviews and mentoring to junior consultants
• Develop and maintain client relationships and contribute to proposals and business development
• Promote collaboration, innovation and best practice across projects facing industrial automation and digital transformation

Key requirements

• Proven experience in control systems engineering, industrial automation or OT
• Experience delivering control system projects across full lifecycle
• Experience in CNI or highly regulated industrial environments (electricity, water)
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, DCS and RTUs
• Understanding of industrial networks and protocols (Industrial Ethernet, PROFINET, Modbus TCP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104)
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
• Good understanding of cybersecurity for ICS/OT and knowledge of IEC 62443
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation
• Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
