Director, UX Design – AEC Forma Design

Overview

In this Director of UX Design role, you lead the Experience Foundations team for the AEC domain to shape best-in-class experiences across Forma Design and related Autodesk products. You will mentor and align a global UX team, influence product strategy, and advocate design thinking to drive customer value. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, and design disciplines to deliver cohesive, scalable experiences. This is an opportunity to steer strategic UX direction in a globally distributed environment and shape how customers interact with Autodesk’s design tools.

Responsibilities

• Articulate and drive a design vision, evaluating approaches for value and feasibility
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and other design teams to ensure smooth development and high-quality outcomes
• Coach, mentor, and steward a team of UX designers across projects
• Leverage data and insights to set priorities, personalization, and agentic experiences
• Build high-performing, cross-functional teams while managing stakeholders, risk, and cross-organizational alignment
• Be a thought leader on emerging technologies and trends to maintain a cohesive customer experience across Autodesk
• Navigate competing opinions and advocate effectively for the team
• Foster a collaborative culture with strong focus on belonging and team development
• Travel to Oslo at least 25% for collaboration and leadership across regions

Key requirements

• 10+ years in UX across multiple disciplines
• 5+ years in global people management
• Design thinking mastery and ability to distill complex ideas into clear impact
• Proven leadership enabling teams to deliver against strategic objectives
• Ability to influence and partner cross-functionally to align with strategic goals
