Overview

Senior Site Engineer for a residential groundworks contractor delivering infrastructure across Staffordshire, Leicestershire and the Midlands. You will manage the engineering function on multiple developments, ensuring safe, accurate and timely delivery while upholding quality and compliance. You’ll mentor site engineers, interpret drawings, and support programme delivery with the wider project team. This role offers long-term progression, exposure to high-value residential projects, and a collaborative environment that values safety and delivery excellence. You will play a key part in transforming design into on-site reality within a reputable contractor.

Responsibilities

  • Setting out roads, sewers, deep drainage, foundations, plot works and external works
  • Managing and mentoring Site Engineers and Junior Engineers
  • Producing accurate setting out records and site documentation
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Carrying out quality inspections and ensuring works meet specification
  • Producing as-built surveys and handover documentation
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and local authority inspectors
  • Supporting programme delivery and resolving technical challenges on site
  • Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards
  • Working with Contracts Managers to deliver projects on time and within budget

Key requirements

  • Proven experience within residential groundworks or civil engineering
  • Strong knowledge of roads & sewers, foundations, drainage and infrastructure works
  • Experience working on residential developments for national or regional housebuilders
  • Proficiency with Leica, Trimble or Topcon surveying equipment
  • Experience using AutoCAD and surveying software
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while supporting wider project teams
  • Full UK Driving Licence
