Overview
In this role you will lead the London finance function, acting as the local partner to London partners and the on-the-ground counterpart to US finance. You’ll oversee accounting, controls, and the revenue cycle while coordinating budgeting and planning, ensuring regulatory compliance and cross-border alignment. You will work closely with US teams to deliver timely financial insights and partner-facing support that helps the firm scale and operate efficiently in London.

Responsibilities
- Act as trusted local finance advisor to London partners with timely financial insights
- Serve as on-the-ground extension of US finance functions and translate firm-wide policies to London
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, GL integrity, reconciliations, month-end close, intercompany matters
- Ensure regulatory compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and support client/matter due diligence
- Manage billing and collections to drive timely invoicing, reduce WIP/AR aging, and improve realization
- Coordinate VAT compliance and reporting with tax to HMRC for UK and cross-border matters
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in collaboration with CFO and US FP&A
- Lead and develop a team of 3–4 finance professionals
- Provide variance analysis and business insight for decision-making
- Support quarterly billing/collection campaigns with CRO and US FP&A
Key requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a management role within a finance function
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent
- Finance experience in law firm or professional services preferred
- Working knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules for law firms
- Experience across accounting, revenue/billing, and compliance; budgeting and planning preferred
- Demonstrated success in managing a team and partnering with senior stakeholders
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to operate across time zones with US counterparts
