Overview
In this Equipment Engineer role, you will guide cross-disciplinary decisions for mechanical, electrical, and I&C aspects on a major nuclear new-build. You will work within the TD Equipment Delivery Team to ensure design, manufacture, and installation decisions align with project objectives. The position offers exposure to EPR design and fast-paced delivery on a high-profile programme. You’ll apply pragmatic judgment to drive value-focused mitigations and enable timely delivery, with a clear impact on safety and project outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Own cross-functional technical issues to deliver best-for-project solutions within schedule
- Escalate deadlocks and drive innovative optioneering
- Collaborate with programme and technical teams on prioritisation and scope topics
- Global risk management including up-to-date risk tracking
- Implement risk mitigation plans with technical and programme teams
- Promote pragmatic decision making and delivery-focused mitigation plans
- Maintain governance and optioneering decisions to be fit for purpose at the right level
- Manage engineering services for the HPC project with value engineering focus
Key requirements
- Sound engineering judgement in Mechanical (preferred) or Electrical
- Understanding of nuclear industry, ALARP principles and safety case alignment
- Knowledge of design processes, manufacturing for mechanical equipment
- Understanding of quality requirements and practices
- Adaptable self-starter with strong problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent military experience
