Overview
As Senior Fire Protection Engineer, you will lead fire protection design and calculations for diverse projects within a multidisciplinary Buildings & Places team. You will act as a key technical contact, delivering design packages and fire suppression solutions while supporting surveys, reports, and day-to-day project management. Responsibilities
- Lead FP design on projects and assist the lead FP engineer on complex assignments
- Prepare design packages for RIBA stages (drawings, specifications, reports, hydraulic calculations)
- Develop Fire Suppression System solutions (sprinklers, water mist, gaseous systems)
- Perform calculations for sprinkler water supplies and gas quantities
- Support remote project-delivery teams
- Conduct technical reviews and field investigations
- Coordinate with project teams, clients, authorities, contractors and stakeholders
- Assist the project manager on projects of varying scale and provide technical assurance
Key requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
- Engineering degree or professional qualification
- Experience in consultancy or related industries
- Knowledge of British & International standards and Building Regulations
- Experience with Fire Suppression Systems (sprinklers, water mist, gaseous suppression, risers, hydrants, hose reels, hypoxic systems)
- Software proficiency (Word, Excel, CAD, Revit, hydraulic tools)
- Evidence of CPD and professional development
- BEng, MEng or working towards it
- Engineering Council registration (CEng/IEng) or working towards it
- Effective communication with project teams and stakeholders
