Overview
In this role you will provide psychological assessment and interventions for children with medical conditions and their families within the Surgery Psychology Stream of PAMHS. You will collaborate with paediatric consultants and allied professionals to deliver flexible psychological care across inpatient and outpatient settings. You’ll work with children, young people, and families, developing skills in groups and individual interventions, while contributing to service development and cross-disciplinary work. The position offers opportunities to engage in teaching, research, and clinical innovations in a dynamic paediatric hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological assessment and interventions for children with medical/surgical conditions
- Deliver individual, family, parent, and group interventions
- Support flexible, stream-wide psychology service delivery and collaborate with MDTs
- Work with external agencies and within GOSH MDTs
- Engage in CPD, teaching, and research activities
- Contribute to formulation-based practice and creative approaches with families
Key requirements
- Good honours degree in Psychology
- Post-graduate doctoral training in clinical psychology with HCPC registration
- Clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology expertise
- Experience in complex psychological assessment, intervention, and management
- Effective communication of clinical information to clients, carers, and professionals
- Multidisciplinary team working experience and collaboration
- Knowledge of child protection and legislation related to children and young people
- Experience delivering evidence-based interventions for child and adolescent mental health problems
- Experience in medical/paediatric settings and with diverse client groups
