Overview

In this role you will design LV and HV networks up to 33kV and lead multi-utility schemes across electricity, gas, and water. You’ll work with clients and internal teams through feasibility, planning, and delivery to meet regulatory and client requirements. The role blends technical design with approvals, aiming for practical, sustainable solutions in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. Responsibilities

  • Develop and review LV and HV electrical network designs (11kV–33kV)
  • Conduct feasibility studies, load assessments and network planning
  • Produce electrical schematics, layouts and design docs using AutoCAD
  • Integrate gas and water utilities into multi-utility designs as required
  • Ensure compliance with G81 standards, UK utility regulations and client requirements
  • Manage design approvals with local authorities, DNOs and IDNOs
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors and internal teams to meet project objectives
  • Provide technical guidance, perform risk assessments and support sustainable, cost-effective design solutions

Key requirements

  • Degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven LV/HV network design experience in ICP, IDNO or DNO environments
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and UK utility regulations
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Windebut or similar design software
  • Understanding of G81 standards and design approval process
  • Experience in multi-utility design including gas and water (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of earthing software such as CDEGS (beneficial)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and administrative skills
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress towards CEng (advantageous)
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
