Overview

As an Associate Electrical Design Engineer in London, you will lead major projects and mentor teams within a global M&E consultancy. You will shape electrical design and coordination across building types, with emphasis on cost, feasibility, and compliance. You’ll collaborate with clients, professional teams, and contractors to deliver robust, safe, and sustainable electrical solutions. This role offers impact on data centre and built-environment projects at scale and supports the firm’s zero-carbon objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead major projects and coordinate electrical/MEP design across building types
  • Manage project teams and liaise with clients, professionals, and contractors
  • Perform cost and fee feasibility analyses and prepare bids
  • Prepare project reports for management and clients
  • Develop and specify control systems for building services
  • Survey existing installations and verify compliance with specs
  • Ensure calculations and drawings meet industry standards and regulations
  • Support project delivery through QA/QC and technical reviews
  • Direct day-to-day project progress and risk management
  • Coordinate engineering services holistically and guide concept selection

Key requirements

  • BSc/BEng in engineering or equivalent
  • Chartered status (CEng) or equivalent
  • Significant experience in electrical design for diverse building types
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and UK regulations
  • Experience with invoicing, credit control, and project financials
  • Experience in project leadership, scheduling, and client communications
  • Proficient in MS Office and calculation/spreadsheet software
  • Strong presentation and meeting facilitation skills
  • Background in consulting or construction preferred
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload
