Overview

In this Senior Mechanical Engineer role, you will drive the hardware development of a novel life-saving biotech manufacturing device from concept through build and test. You’ll collaborate with Medical Devices Physicists, Scientists, Electronics Engineers, and Design Engineers to accelerate proof-of-concept and scalable design using 3D CAD. The position sits in a fast-growing biotech startup, offering exposure to cross-functional activities and industry events. Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and iteration of the biotech device hardware
  • Develop and validate mechanical concepts using 3D CAD (ideally SOLIDWORKS)
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate mechatronics, automation, and robotics
  • Support prototype build, testing, and troubleshooting across stages of PoC to pre-production
  • Engage with external partners, conferences, and trade shows as needed
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and documentation for regulatory readiness

Key requirements

  • Senior-level experience in mechatronics, automation, robotics, or complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably SOLIDWORKS
  • Background in medical devices, biotech, or scientific design consultancy is a plus
  • Degree and a Master in a relevant technical field
  • Experience in working in or with startups/scale-ups or multidisciplinary environments
