Risk and Compliance Specialist

Overview

In this role, you will help develop and embed AAUICL’s risk and control framework, supporting strategic objectives while prioritising customer outcomes. You will partner with Risk Owners and colleagues across The AA to identify, assess, mitigate, and report risks, ensuring regulatory alignment. Your work translates complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance and drives governance through clear reporting. This is a hands-on, process-focused opportunity to shape risk management in a large, customer-centric organisation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and embed AAUICL’s Risk Management Framework aligned with Group Risk & Compliance
• Partner with Risk Owners to identify, assess and manage risks and implement improvements
• Analyse risks, issues and incidents to provide clear governance reporting
• Support compliance with GFSC, FCA, Solvency II requirements and educate stakeholders
• Maintain Conduct and Customer Outcomes arrangements to reduce poor outcomes
• Oversee third-party and outsourcing compliance risks, registers and control activity
• Coordinate compliance and audit actions, regulatory submissions and governance reporting

Key requirements

• Strong experience in UK personal lines insurance with operational risk and compliance knowledge
• Strong analytical capability across data sets to inform decisions
• Pragmatic problem-solving with sound judgement in escalation and risk mitigation
• Confident stakeholder management and cross-level collaboration
• Clear written and verbal communication translating complex information into guidance
• Strong planning, organisation and attention to detail, plus policy/process implementation experience
