Overview

As Onshore & Offshore Construction Lead you will direct FPSO construction and offshore execution, from fabrication through sail-away and pre-commissioning support. You will work from London while the project runs in North America, delivering safe, on-time, and compliant outcomes within budget. You will oversee interface management across hull, topsides, mooring, drilling/subsea and vendors, driving constructability and readiness. This contract role emphasizes leadership, delivery in complex environments, and a strong safety culture. This is a high-impact position at a major FPSO project with a global footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Direct hull and topsides construction, conversion or refurbishment at the yard (structural steel, marine and hull systems, piping, E&I, module fabrication, lifting and integration).
  • Drive constructability reviews and design-for-construction input during FEED and detailed engineering to reduce rework and schedule risk.
  • Monitor contractor progress, manpower, productivity, subcontractor performance and schedule float; escalate deviations with corrective action plans.
  • Oversee mechanical completion, punch-list management, system handover and pre-commissioning readiness prior to sail-away.
  • Plan and lead offshore installation, mooring hook-up, riser/umbilical pull-in, tie-ins, hook-up and commissioning support.
  • Review and approve marine warranty, tow-out, station-keeping, lifting and SIMOPS procedures; ensure offshore readiness and logistics planning.
  • Lead the offshore construction team and interface with marine spread, installation contractors and vessel management.
  • Own construction interfaces across hull, topsides, mooring, SURF, drilling/subsea, ops and third-party vendors; maintain interface register and close out queries.
  • Administer EPC/EPCI and fabrication contracts; support tendering, technical bid evaluation and contracting strategy for construction packages.

Key requirements

  • 25+ years in offshore oil and gas with substantial senior construction leadership.
  • Expert knowledge of FPSO design, engineering, construction, offshore installation and hook-up.
  • Experience delivering across new-build, conversion and redeployment FPSO projects.
  • Expert-level knowledge of hull structures and marine systems; multi-contractor interface management.
  • Strong contract management including claims, variations and contractor performance.
  • Project execution across multiple locations and yards; fluent English with strong reporting skills.
  • Ability to work in multi-national, multi-cultural environments; offshore medical, BOSIET/HUET and travel readiness.
