Overview
In this role you lead engineering maintenance to keep manufacturing operations safe, reliable, and efficient. You’ll coordinate craft teams and contractors, drive continuous improvement, and diagnose equipment faults to minimise downtime. You’ll ensure work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards while supporting site performance and team development. Responsibilities
- Lead engineering craft teams and contractors to support site operations
- Plan and allocate resources, labour, materials, and maintenance activities
- Oversee preventative maintenance, fault finding, inspections, and emergency repairs
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, legal, and permit-to-work standards
- Provide technical expertise to diagnose complex equipment issues and minimise downtime
- Monitor performance, costs, and contractor activity to meet quality and budget targets
- Drive continuous improvement to enhance plant reliability and maintenance practices
- Develop and train engineering and production teams, sharing knowledge and best practices
- Conduct failure analysis and propose equipment/process improvements
- Act as lead for the shift engineering team when the Shift Coordinator is unavailable
Key requirements
- Qualified Engineering Craftsperson (typically HNC level) or Graduate Engineer
- Several years’ experience in engineering maintenance or manufacturing
- Strong practical knowledge of engineering and maintenance within the discipline
- Proven ability to diagnose, repair, and support complex plant/equipment issues
- Experience supervising and coordinating personnel to ensure safe, efficient, high-standard work
- Strong understanding of safe systems of work and health and safety requirements in industry
- Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads, make sound technical decisions, and support operational objectives
