In this role you will lead high‑profile energy projects within a top Bristol team, shaping regulatory and commercial advice for the energy transition. You will work closely with senior partners to steer complex mandates across renewables, storage and power markets, blending regulatory insight with transactional execution. The role combines supervising junior lawyers with direct client engagement and cross‑disciplinary collaboration. You will help grow the team and contribute to strategic initiatives in a dynamic, market‑leading practice. Responsibilities

  • Deliver clear, commercially focused advice on regulatory frameworks and market design
  • Draft and negotiate grid, offtake and optimisation agreements
  • Lead negotiations and manage complex project workstreams
  • Support multi disciplinary teams on transactional mandates
  • Produce thought leadership and client training on emerging market issues
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management
  • Ensure effective supervision, mentoring and development of junior team members

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in energy regulation and commercial/transactional work
  • Strong understanding of grid, offtake and market design issues
  • Excellent drafting skills and the ability to simplify complex regulation
  • Confidence leading negotiations and engaging with technical and commercial stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach and proven experience supervising junior lawyers
