Overview

As Chief Medical Officer at Abbott Toxicology, you will lead clinical excellence across Occupational Health during a period of growth and transformation. You will shape strategic direction, align services with industry standards and regulations, and act as the clinical voice guiding innovation and measurable value for customers and employees. You will oversee all clinical services, contribute to policy development, and drive a performance-driven, customer-focused culture in a global healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Shape strategic direction of the Occupational Health business and ensure alignment with industry standards and regulations
  • Provide clinical leadership across the multidisciplinary team and oversee all clinical services
  • Lead complex case management, medical assessments, health surveillance, wellbeing initiatives and development of new clinical services
  • Conduct clinical reviews, training and competency oversight, professional revalidation, and regular clinical audits
  • Provide clinical expertise for tender opportunities and manage relationships with customers
  • Manage clinical performance scorecard to demonstrate high-quality, compliant services and impact
  • Ensure training, coaching, and alignment of the clinical team to professional and commercial objectives
  • Support accreditations and regulatory compliance (SEQOHS, ISO, RISQS) and monitor changes in regulations
  • Oversee OHP clinical work and respond to legislative changes to maintain service excellence
  • Contribute to policy development, risk management, and overall objectives of the team and organisation

Key requirements

  • GMC registration and Specialist Register (Occupational Medicine)
  • MFOM or FFOM
  • Hand Arm Vibration Tier 4 (desirable)
  • Medical Review Officer experience (desirable)
  • ORR Registration (strongly desirable)
  • Experience in LUL medicals
  • HSE appointed doctor preferences (Ionizing Radiations Regulations 2017, Control of Lead at Work 2002, Control of Asbestos 2012, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002)
  • Ability to conduct physician assessments and produce clear reports
  • Current knowledge of Occupational Health service statutory and recommended practice and protocols
  • Strong clinical background and knowledge
