Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to deliver technically sound engineering solutions meeting standards and client requirements
  • Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings, and scheme documentation to quality, cost, and programme criteria
  • Supervise junior staff and guide their performance
  • Manage project finances, budgets, and cost control for deliverables
  • Liaise with client and supplier representatives, attend progress meetings and respond to queries
  • Contribute to bid preparation and business development activities
  • Promote and implement health and safety practices within the team

Key requirements

  • Developed experience in a Senior Engineer role or equivalent
  • Chartered status with ICE or IStructE or equivalent professional licence (desirable/essential on some contracts)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject
  • Experience with health, safety and welfare management (CDM)
  • Capacity to act as day-to-day main engineering contact (CRE on Network Rail schemes)
  • Knowledge of design and specification processes and ability to check designs to high standards
  • Experience with relevant software and analytical tools
  • Supervisory and people management skills
  • Incorporated or Chartered status or equivalent (desirable on some contracts)
  • Liaising with clients and suppliers
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Strong communication and teamwork
  • Design and specification process knowledge
  • Ability to produce technically sound engineering solutions
  • Experience with health, safety and CDM compliance
